I was diagnosed with diverticulitis several years ago. I seem to get about 3 attacks a year, which I am told is a lot. I worry because I have 3 friends who’s parents have died from diverticulitis ruptures. I go for a colonoscopy every 5 years. My diverticulitis is listed as moderate. My Dr tells me I can eat whatever I want and that the medical data does not support seeds or nuts as a cause. I know for a fact that seeds and nuts are my cause. Infections set in when hard pieces of food do not break down and get trapped in the pockets and leave behind an infection. I know exactly what the symptoms are and have stocked piled Levofloxacin and Metronidazole. I’m worried because bowel surgery is one of the worst things you can have. Having a section of your bowels removed and having to use a colostomy bad while you heal is not something I am looking forward to. Once you are cut, your body will never be as strong as it was before.
I need to make severe lifestyle changes to ensure that this attack on 6/8/18 will be my last. I am only 52.
