Diverticulitis Support Group
Diverticulitis is a common disease of the bowel, in particular the large intestine. Diverticulitis develops from diverticulosis, which involves the formation of pouches on the outside of the colon. Diverticulitis results if one of these diverticula becomes inflamed. Diverticulitis most often affects middle-aged and elderly persons, though it can strike younger patients as...
Diverticulosis are the little pockets that are formed in the colon.
Diverticulitis is when those little pockets are inflamed or infected.
When it comes to Diverticulitis everyone is different. Different triggers for different people. My proven trigger is stress, no stress, no infection.
If I was having pain, I would start by going on a clear liquid diet to see if the pain went away. Then slowly start with low fiber and see how that sets.
Please leave fiber foods alone for awhile, maybe even a few weeks. If you feel pain after eating something, please don't eat it again. Please eat small meals also. Too much food can cause pain if you are having an attack of Diverticulitis.
Good luck
I went to my GI yesterday as I had a "flare" recently.. I told him I was ill for the mo of July - cramps, nausea, ache in the abdomen.. no fever, no blood, usually good BM's, except when on a liquid diet. He said "why would you do that?" Huh?? Another reason for me to not like him!
