Diverticulitis is a common disease of the bowel, in particular the large intestine. Diverticulitis develops from diverticulosis, which involves the formation of pouches on the outside of the colon. Diverticulitis results if one of these diverticula becomes inflamed. Diverticulitis most often affects middle-aged and elderly persons, though it can strike younger patients as...
I did all the right things...ate all the right Foods..I was Not so Lucky.
My GI Doc also said it was Perfectly SAFE to Eat Seeds, whatever I wanted...soooo One Night I DID..3 Days later I was in EXTREME Pain, and thought I was Just Gonna DIE.
As a Matter of Fact, almost Every1 I have Ever Spoken with says the Exact SAME Thing...that Their Attacks were preceded by Eating Nuts, Corn OR Seeds..that they feel Fine as Long as they Stay away from those things..
So...idk !!
I did have the surgery..and I Can Now eat Everything..with the exception of Corn..I Must have been just Sensitive to it..because IF I Eat it, and I Have NO Diverticuli left in me, I get Straight Diarrhea, and that Corn is Thru my Entire system within Hours..so I will remain Corn Free...which is to bad cause I LOVE Corn on the Cob !! Smothered in Garlic Butter...and salt.
Such is Life.
I Hope the Very BEST For You !!
I am the Youngest in my Family, I am the One who was MOST Active, Ate 95 Percent vegetarian..Very little Red meat (I DO Love an Occasional Cheeeeesburger)..very Little Pork..Mostly Fish and a Bit of Chicken...LOTS of Fruits and Veggies DAILY...Always..
Yet, I am the ONLY One in my Family who has THIS, the rest have ALL been Scoped, and No One Else has Vascular Disease either...No One else...Not grand Parents, Aunts Uncles, Immediate Family..
I Just DO NOT Understand !!
I am also the Only one who has Suffered IBS, Anxiety, Heart palps...My sisters do Not Understand what I am Speaking of when I speak of those things...they didn't even have any of it when they BREEEZED Thru menopause !!
My Dr. said if it is going to happen it is going to happen and that there is no sense in worrying about it because it could happen tomorrow or 10 years from now or possibly never again. He did say that chewing your food well, exercise, plenty of fluids and fiber do make a difference.
All I know is I am rather fearful of food now. Which in a weird way might be a good thing since I am rather over weight.
(oh and a hamburger would be so good) Tired of poultry and fish
Trying to up my fiber too.. drinking a lot of water.
Live with The Fear that an attack willhit me at "any moment".
Sick of my doctors.
So tired of this. Dont kow what to believe anymore.
But...the docs insist that it was not that and that nuts and seeds are not the culprits. They all seem to agree on the fibre and the water...so I will stick with that. I take 3 Benefibre tablets every day...and drink 500ml of water along with them...that is very important to do.
I had also on the day I went in strained very very hard to pass a hard stool...and they said that is the most likely cause as well. So, having weighed all the options I think I will stick with my fibre and my water and eat lots of fruits (soft ones) and veggies (not too hard ..and hard to digest) and hope that this will do it for me.
Good luck to all and keep in touch !! xox
