I went to the gastroenterologist today and found out the results of the biopsies. I have colon cancer. I'm going to get an MRI to stage the cancer. If the tumor is more invasive they may order chemotherapy and radiation therapy to shrink it. Then I would have surgery to remove it. I get the MRI Monday.

I am so very sorry you have to go through this.
With all they can do now days, I'm hoping you will be fine and they will take care of everything. Hang in there, and please keep us posted.
Try and keep a positive attitude as it always helps your well being, although I can imagine this has thrown you for a loop.

Thank you Gem, I will keep you posted. Still suffering from bloating, constipation and still get the abdominal pain. Sometimes it's just all over cramping and sometimes it's on the lower left side. I tried metamucil yesterday morning(one dose) and have been trying to eat more fiber and drink more liquids. So far nothing has happened but I know it can take a while. I haven't been sleeping well. I feel like all of this is too much to take in at once. I'm glad I'm getting the MRI on Monday but won't know the results for a while. Once we have the MRI results then I will see the gastroenterologist again and will know what we're going to do. I know a colon resection surgery is a definite.

Hi.. i just wanted to say I hope you are hanging in there and like others have said, so much can be done today to cure cancer. Keep the faith and watch some good comedies:) Someone on another board gave me a link to MDAnderson cancer center in Houston, saying it was the best place to go. I don't personally know, and I do not have cancer. But you can always look into it. Wishing you strength and peace, and hoping for a great outcome for you! :)

Thanks for the support! :) Comedies do help! I find I'm doing better over the weekend because my boyfriend is here with me. During the week it's harder because he's at work. I wish I could go to that cancer center but I'm in Canada. For chemotherapy and radiation I would have to got another city an hour and a half away because they don't do it at the hospital here.

I'm so glad your bf is with you this weekend. You need to have support and company of course! I'm sorry the week was hard for you. Well, I know nothing about Canadian resources, but hopefully you wont need chemo/radiation. It would be nice if you didn't have to travel!! But they must have a good setup, so if you had to go, you could stay there. Also, go to inspire.com, they have a lot of ppl there who can talk to you who are going through or have gone through the same as you. Look at cute cats and puppies online in the meantime ;) That always works wonders!! lol. Really, I wish you the best. Enjoy your Sunday:)))

Yes cute puppies, cats, and cute other animals always makes me smile. It helps to listen to inspirational songs as well. I hope I don't have to travel either but at least it they have a place to stay at the hospital if I need to go there. I will check out inspire thank you! I had hard time falling asleep and had to wake up early. My MRI is this morning. I hope you had a good Sunday too!

The MRI nurse said that the radiologist assigned to me is really fast. She did say the report would take at least a couple of days. That they know how important it is for the doctor to get the results. There were clouds on the ceiling that I could look back at while in the MRI. I had no reaction to the contrast. My boyfriend couldn't go with me because he works during the day. I was fine taking the bus. I will definitely go to bed earlier tonight! Thanks for the big hugs!

Yay you had clouds to look at at!!! That's the bonus of an mri that is NOT of your head! Great! lol. So just your body was in? Too bad you had to take the bus. I wish you had company. But you sound like a trooper! I am glad you will get the results quickly. I will be praying for you. I am all the way down in Florida now, I am from NY, so it must be nice and chilly in Canada! I guess that means you can put on some cozy pj's and cover up with a nice warm blanket! Make some hot cocoa and cuddle up and have some good stuff to watch! We have the Voice on tonight down here, but I don't know what shows you get. Anyhow, get a good rest tonight and take super good care of yourself!!!! :)))

Looking at the clouds helped me relax. I was in the MRI for an hour. Yes my body was in the MRI machine which was focus on my pelvis. My head was sticking out out end and my feet and legs on the other. It was so loud and sounded really strange. The ear plugs helped some. You're right it is cold here right now. Soul and hot chocolate are pluses though. I'm not sure what I will watch maybe the latest Walking Dead episode or Revenge. I will try to get some rest tonight. Take care.

My GI doctor appointment isn't until November 17th. His office did say they would call me when they get the MRI results. The receptionist can't give out the results but she said that the doctor may be able to call me. I just really want to l know cancer stage. I know that he won't be able to get into too much over the phone but I'd still like to know. I've been having a lot of pain and bowel spasms today. I can eat but always regret it because it makes the pain worse. It's so hard waiting!
