Just a few days ago I have felt the "twinges of pain" similar to what I felt shortly before a "flare" and so I went and bought some aloe vera juice - hoping that it will keep me out of the hospital.
Note: I had 15" of my colon (sigmoid) removed, but the remainder of my colon still has the diverticuli pockets - so, I am still subject to diverticulitis. I am praying that it stays in "check" and I will not have to be hospitalized or have surgery again.
I would say that aloe does "calm" your guts and helps with inflammation.
Initially I bought it at GNC, but then I found some at Walmart (I get the berry flavored) and it is less expensive.
