I think it's normal to get gas with any change in diet. Just wait till you begin adding fiber.

Are you serious it gets worse, isn't gas like the thing we are supposed to avoid because it puts pressure on our colon not to mention we really do not want to pass wind these days.

I sure would like to avoid the gas. I am ok now but when I first began adding the fiber it was bad. I try to eat foods in the correct order now. You know, liquids and fruits before anything heavier. But if I eat a fruit or fiber bar in the middle of the day, then I have trouble. And you sure don't want to be bloated.

what about using something like Gas X or Mylanta with Gas ability is that ok for us to use or a no no?

I have tried Gas X but it didn't work with me. When I get too bloated I just take a Rolaid. But that is when I am not having an attack. There is a book that suggests eating to half full. So I try to eat smaller meals and chew the food thoroughly. All that helps. Frankly though, if you eat as much fiber as they suggest I think you're just going to have gas.

Weird thing I hate a pretty high fiber diet, lots of fresh veggies, raw and cooked, salads till you would have thought I was a rabbit, light on the meat, wholewheat pasta and bread, nuts, lots of organic stuff the only thing I did different was I did eat a lot of strawberries and blueberries this spring,

I was really trying lose weight and get healthy. I had breast cancer 3 years ago and well wanted to look and feel good again.

Now I have lost 10lbs in 10 days and well not the way I wanted to do it not to mention the ishy feelings that accompany a new diagnosis.

Sorry to hear about your breast cancer. I hope this diverticulitis will not be a big thing for you. Some people only get it once and that's it. Maybe that'll be you. I had 3 and 1/2 years between my first and second attack. Unfortunately now I am having them more frequently. Don't stress out. I am sure I got one bad attack by being under great stress.

I am truly sorry to hear you went that long and then pow it hit you again.

I sincerely pray that it only happens once and then it never bothers me again that would be awesome but I know that is a really slim chance.
