Navigating the Restaurant Menus
My family took me to lunch this week. As usual, I looked up the menu ahead of time and was going to order the grilled chicken and shrimp. Much to my surprise, our server mentioned the special being Corned Beef and Cabbage. Sticking to a dairy, gluten and sugar free diet style can be challenging, not to mention avoiding the seed oils. It may seem fussy but I learned a lesson last year when going to lunch with my writing group. I didn't resist the fish 'n chips special and felt under the weather for a couple of days afterward.
Looking up restaurants and menus has become a pasttime of mine since I'd rather not appear too awfully finicky while out. (It's best not to feel ill afteward either.) It's much easier to peruse all of that from home. If anyone else has a strategy for navigating the restaurants and menus, I'd love to hear about it.

Remember the (5) S’s for Weighing:
♦ Same TIME of day
♦ Same DAY each week
♦ Same CLOTHING
♦ Same SCALE — and remember, sometimes the scale doesn’t budge, but the waistline does
♦ Same SELF-COMPASSION

Today, I finally remembered to weigh-in and was up one pound (138). I still use a rotary type scale and avoid the digital one. The size of the old scale makes it easier to step on it in the same spot. Am I the only one using an old fashioned scale?

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...
