Weekly Weigh-In (Jul 30-Aug 5) Morning Routine

Wendy Suzuki - Morning Routine
30 Minutes of exercise every morning. Because I know from my research and that of colleagues that every time you move your body, and I like to do cardio weights for 30 minutes, it releases a whole bunch of neurochemicals in your brain. Dopamine, seratonin, noradrenaline and growth factors are being released. It's like giving your brain a wonderful bubble bath of neurochemicals.
What these neuro chemicals do? The dopamine and seratonin are making you feel good. They're bringing your energy up. The other thing we know they do is with movement, physical activity, the functions of your prefrontal cortex right behind your forehead, get sharper. They get better. So I do that first thing in the morning, and I do that to prepare my brain for work. I want to come into work happy, motivated and able to focus well.
The reason I would do it every morning for 30 minutes is really about habit formation. When I was all over the place, I would get too tired. I found that 30 minutes first thing in the morning was something I could do, and keep doing ever single day. My muscles weren't too sore and it helped with that gradual habit formation. I do it for my brain and my brain productivity. The 30 minutes every morning is really about building that habit that will stick with you and does not go away.

Remember the (4) S's for weighing:
♦ Same TIME of day (on the)
♦ Same DAY each week (wearing the)
♦ Same CLOTHING (and using the)
♦ Same SCALE to Measure Yourself - Remember, sometimes the scale doesn't budge, but the waistline will.

Seems a great motivation for sticking to exercise routines is knowing it benefits our brain power and helps to inhibit cognitive decline. Many articles discuss eating whole foods, avoiding processed, and maintaining a low carb/low sugar dietary style. I need all the encouragement I can get to stay on a healthy track. One such positive help is to get my exercise started before the heat exhausts me. Getting the exercise started early is like charging up my battery. Otherwise, I could be nodding off shortly after dinner! Hope it's a wonderful weekend for everyone!
The above information are notes I took from watching one of Dr. Suzuki's many podcasts. I attached a Ted Talk of hers in case you want to get the idea though. Have a great weekend, stay cool!

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

This is why I don't go to family functions. I felt very unsupported when I lost my husband in 2020. And my grandmother's 9 living children and hosts of grandchildren turned against me when I was managing my grandma's end of life care as her Power of Attorney. I was the administrator of the grandfather and grandmother's estates (an extremely thankless job that took over two years of my life!) When...
