Consistent Exercise: How to Keep The Habit
We all know proper fitness is essential to having a holistic lifestyle. Not only does healthy living help your body in the physical sense, it also does wonders for one’s self-esteem. The best part is, you don’t even have to be a super athletic person to practice consistent exercise. Our post will cover all things necessary to keep the habit, day in and day out.
Consistent exercise starts now.
You heard us. Now. As in now, now. There’s no more waiting for Monday. A consistent exercise habit requires the proper mindset and starts with a desire for change. So, get ready. We’re going to do this. Moreover, it’s time to tell your mind that there will be no more snoozing.
Likewise, there’s a saying, it goes, the only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen. Take those words to heart and use them as motivation for your endeavors. It takes approximately 21 repetitions of an action to form a habit. Be intentional until working out runs its course, and feels natural to your everyday lifestyle.
What does it consist of?
For a beginner, a routine that works the entire body, with a focus on light cardio, is best. You will want to research more in-depth explanations of routines, as there are many resources online for your fitness journey. Begin by setting small goals for yourself. Maybe your first goal can be to complete a 5K by the next month. By setting attainable goals for yourself, you will find yourself filled with a sense of accomplishment after your goal is completed, thus motivating you to continue the fit lifestyle.
Now that you’ve got an idea of what it consists of, let’s get into how to stick to your new fitness routine
Eat foods that will fuel your routine, not slow it down.
There is nothing worse than doing your first fitness routine, and following it up with a greasy bucket of fried chicken. If you want to be serious and keep a consistent exercise regimen, you’ll need to be conscious about your intake. Avoid things that are processed, or excessive in fat. Rely on fruits and vegetables, as well as high-quality proteins to give you the boost you need to keep fit.
For your pre-workout, think of things like whole wheat toast with almond butter and banana slices. Also, after your sweat session, try grilled chicken and steamed veggies. These types of foods will provide the nutrients you need to keep your exercising habit.
Have a workout buddy.
Additionally, nothing says accountability like a second, or third, set of eyes. Having a good friend workout with you also adds to the enjoyability of the process. Schedule steady times for both of you to exercise, and add encouragement when succeeding. Remember, it’s not about perfect, it’s about effort. Give it you’re all and let your workout buddy join in the enthusiasm.
Are you ready to keep this habit?
By now, you should be all geared up to go. Anyone can keep a consistent exercise routine, even if they are not used to the athletic lifestyle. Lastly, we hope you’ve enjoyed this how to, and we look forward to sharing in your success. http://www.achievalife.com/consistent-exercise/

Is it difficult to get back in the habit of exercise again or to develop a plan that works? Hopefully this article will provide some motivation for sticking to a good plan. I'll be weighing in again on Tuesday, my usual day. If there are any specific challenges in which help is needed, please share them so we can help each other. Have a great week!

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...
Weight: 151lbs
Goal: 130lbs
But seriously, good thing to get started NOW. Reminds me of somewhere I recently read, woman counts to 5, then does the thing she's been dreading. I've tried it a few times, rather than putting task off indefinately. It does kindof work...like any new habit. Good post!!
I have the healthy eating down again, cuz I had UC flare over last 2 weeks. That reminds me to go for nutrition, stay away from processed foods, high fat and sugar. I've been eating a lot of quinoa since, w garlic and olive oil. It feels like a cheat but it's not!
I do well during the day but in the evenings I really start to crave food. if I have junk in the house I will eat it so I can't have it in the house. I have been walking for exercise and increased my distance a couple of days back but boy I feel it in my joints and muscles. Good luck to everyone.
I love the Mark Hyman, MD diet programs. Back after doing WeightWatchers, I needed something to make me feel better after taking up baking bread and pizzas from scratch. After coming across his "UltraSimpleDiet" plan here online, and finding his paperback, my son ran out to get it for me and it really did help me look at eating a lot differently. I'll post a link to some online info if it's helpful at all. https://experiencelife.com/article/the-ultrasimple-slimdown/
Processed foods are something I stay away from as much as I can. When the ice cream and candies come into the house, I have to fight to maintain some willpower lately though. It can be frustrating.
Janette, I'm with you on the evenings. They drive me crazy sometimes. I too find that once the exercise starts, the stamina gets better and better. You're reminding me that it is very important to do some stretching before walking a lot. Awesome to see you doing so well!!
Dr. Oz show had some ideas for low calorie foods this morning when he had "hungry girl" on there. She bakes wonton wrappers (about 40 calories each) and stuffs them with different things. They featured some interesting, low calorie foods today. I used to subscribe to hungry girl when I did weightwatchers. I'll post a link to doctoroz here. There's so many ideas, you can check them out for what floats your boat☺ http://www.doctoroz.com/recipes?bucket=7
