My suggestion would be to do it in stages so that it doesn't seem so hard to do that you give up.
You could start by not eating things you can't pronounce or put into an identifiable food group. For example Ruffles Cheddar & Sour Cream Potato chips sound like they might be food with dairy, more dairy and vegetables but when you read the ingredient list you get a lot more than that.

and then click the nutrition facts if you want to see it for yourself.
The nutrition label states that a 1 oz serving has 160 calories with 90 of them coming from fat. It also provides 8% of your daily sodium.
To put that into perspective if you were to have a LARGE baked potato with 1/4 cup full fat sour cream and 1/4 cup shredded full fat cheddar cheese you would have a 14 oz portion of ostensibly the same flavour profile. It would give you 562 calories 236 of which would be from fat and would also give yo 44% of your sodium.
All things being equal if we were to then up the potato chip serving to the same amount (14 oz - and seriously who eats only 11 chips at a sitting) suddenly the potato chip are coming in at 2240 calories with 1260 of them from fat and is giving you 128% of your daily sodium.
I'm not suggesting that the key to weight loss is baked potatoes loaded with sour cream and cheese just that real food is always better for you than packaged quasi-food.
Good luck with your goals.
But in the long run added muscle mass is nice because muscles burn more calories than fat does!
