Forewarned is forearmed as they say. Two books that I would recommend are;
Salt Sugar Fat by Michael Moss
Fat Chance (beating the odds against sugar, processed food, obesity, and disease) by Robert H. Lustig, M.D.
Hope they help you to try and stay on task as much as they are helping me.
What helped me to kick the sugar habit was getting off of processed food. Almost anything in a box, can or jar has sugar, sugar disguised as something else or ingredients that turn to sugar as soon as you eat them. These can all cause you to crave sugar. Fruit juice is loaded with sugar and can also cause cravings.
I would recommend getting off the fruit juice and focus on protein, healthy fats and lots of veggies. Avoid processed food like the plague and stay away from grains. Hopefully your cravings will get better in no time at all. Mine went away in a matter of days plus I felt 100% better. Then you can start adding whole grains back into your diet and see what happens. I have to stay away from them because they just make me hungry and cause cravings for sugar.
Then maybe you can find a way to get some fruit back into your diet. Try adding some fresh or frozen fruit to a protein shake and blending it up well in a blender. You could also add berries or chopped fruit in with a salad.
Hope that helps.
Home made sweets : )
I use less sugar eggs I use zero cal' free sub sugar.
I use only water and if needed 1 to 2 eggs max. I blend wheat flour and white flower. I never put any type of oil/buyer in to batter.
I will use olive oil r can spray "Pam " to coat the pan.
"Pam" also has butter flavor.
Oh at end of week I take weeks left over veggies. I make a veggie soup. I use canned broth. I chill the broth and then dip off floating fat.
