I follow South Beach, which is a low sugar, low carb, low fat and it has worked really well for me. My body and my brain feels incredible. I allow myself to indulge occasionally because I feel that a big key to success is to not deprive yourself. (i.e. if I want some real chocolate cake, I will have some) And since I give myself those allowances I very rarely have overdone it.
After I lost the first 30 pounds with food chance alone, I began exercising at home to videos of "Walk Away the Pounds" which is an aerobic style workout but focusing mainly on 4 different style walking steps. I built up to using the videos every other day, adding in weights, increasing miles, etc. I use Pintrest for other at home exercising as well at what is available on Youtube. (Free was key)
I did not reach my first mini goal of 250lbs by my birthday in September, shy of about 15lbs but I still felt incredible and that was good enough for me.
The holidays this year have definitely given me some challenges but in mid October (when I did hit 250) I joined a gym. Which is helping with toning muscles while I continue to shed pounds.
All I can think about and look forward to and be excited over, is the prospect of hitting my 100lb lost in a year and then 30lb later hitting my major goal of 200lb by summer time. I just can't really describe what it feels like mentally to be out of my anxiety/depression fog and actually look forward to things and feel good and optimistic. It's a complete 180 from where I was.
I always, and I mean always, have been overweight. Pretty much I turned 1 month old and my weight AND height soared. I am no Amazonian, but I have been 5'9 since about 6th grade. I was mistaken as a college student when I was 10 years old. I have never known anything different. I don't actually have any real memory of being anything less then 230lb because I was so young when I was. And funny enough, I didn't even change my diet to lose weight (because I have always been accustomed and comfortable as bigger) I changed what I ate because I have psoriasis and I thought better eating habits would help clear it up. lol. Which it really hasn't, but the mental gift of happiness and clarity and overall wellness is far greater then any skin malady that I find annoying.
