And as far as the working out goes - I dont go to a gym, but I am active. Most of my activity is coming from outdoor hobbies which I love. Hopefully its not that, I no longer have time for the gym as I am working two jobs....big sigh....lol
It is true that varying your activity is great and now 'they' say to include sprints. That means doing whatever you do but add a ten second burst of energy to rev it up a little.
I use a Little Black Book-Daily Food Diary to know EXACTLY what I am doing all day. Your perception is that you adhere, but, maybe not. Just a little slip here and there can add up to a hundred calories a day and that adds up to 700 calories a week and 3500 'slip' calories equals a pound. ;)
As for workouts, I don't have a gym membership (and also work a zillion hours...), but I use this site: http://www.exercisetv.tv/ where there are many, many free workouts of different lengths -- I can always find 10 minutes...maybe even 20.
