For me I started slow. I wrote down everything that I ate and went onto a website to record it. I didn't change my eating habits at first . I just wanted to see what I was eating and how much. I found sparkpeople very helpful. I found out I actually wasn't eating enough and my body thought that it was starving so it held on to everything that I was eating .I had to eat more . (everyone is different)Then I seen that I got more calories from soda then I did food. So I start slow by cutting one can of soda out of my diet and added water to replace that. I did it real slow so I didn't feel deprived. I did that over a months time. I didn't see any weight loss at first but I did feel better.
After that I started to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables. I cut out the can stuff and now only eat fresh or frozen. The can stuff has way to much sodium which will also make your body hold onto the water.
