I've lost 35 pounds so far and love it! The program is easy to follow and really it's simple logic that you already have. Portion control, lots of water, exercise.
YOU CAN DO IT!
I'm overweight and trying to lose as well. Congratulations for your wedding! That's exciting. I've lost about 13 pounds in about two and a half months. Counting calories is my savior (but I'm only 14, I'm no expert!). I would suggets reducing your calorie intake to anywhere form 1000 to 1500. to find out a good amount of calories for you, find your BMI online and then find a site that will estimate how many calories you should consume daily. Then, get into an exercise class. Aerobics worked for me and I jog now which also helps. i think aerobics twice a week is your best bet. Also, the days that you don't have aerobics you should walk, bike ride, or somehow do something active for at least thirty minutes. i promise healthy foods start tasting better than fattening ones. reduce your calorie, carb, cholesterol, sodium, and sugar intake and that should help. You can have one day a week to eat bad food, but only one. If you want to lose the weight faster, reduce that one day to one meal a week. Losing weight alone is hard, so try to find a friend that will lose weight with you to keep you motivated. Weigh yourself at least once a week just to keep track. A lot of people also keep a diary of what they eat and what they do during the day; it's a good idea. Calorie King is a very good website, if you can't find the calories on something, look it up on that site. The biggest mistake (other than denial) that you can make is calling what you're doing a "diet". That is not what it is if you want to stay thin; it's a lifestyle change, you keep it forever. I f you have any questions mail me on here, I'm ETFoxy. You probably won't lose eighty pounds by then, but you'll lose a good chunk and you'll be able to tell. Good luck!
It comes down to how much do you honestly want to lose the weight?
It will be harder than you ever imagined.
You MUST exercise, and I am not talking about daily walks around the block as the only source. Cardio is what you need; I don't know where you are, but short of joining a gym, see if you can get access to a Y or some sort of club that has some equipment like exercise bikes or eliptical type machines.
As far as needing equipment or joining a gym, you don't need that. You can find plenty of exercise sites online where they put together programs that you can follow in your own home. Because you want to lose such a large amount of weight, you must focus on keeping your muscles and skin tight. Otherwise, you may lose all the weight and lots of water and muscle mass, leaving baggy skin that hangs down to your knees.
Weights are important because weight training builds muscle and muscle burns more calories.
Drink tons of water because water has been proven to assist in flushing fat from your system.
Now your diet. You will need to do a complete overhaul to your eating habits.
Eliminate sugars and white things such as white flour and pastas. Cut out the bad fats and do not eat any trans fats. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, fish and chicken. Eat whole wheat items.
You need to consume less calories than you burn in a day; it's as simple as that.
You can lose the weight, if you really want to lose it, but it will be hard and it will hurt.
If you want to put a picture on your frig, put on of your wedding dress.
Keep in mind that "starving" you body will do nothing to help you lose weight. All that will do will be for your body to slow down your metabolism, and that's the opposite of what you want. Eat something every 3 hours so that you have no sugar spikes and hunger pains or cravings. Decide what you plan to eat during a day and then snack on those items through the day. You will do well to eat 3 small meals and 3 snacks each day.
When you want to give up, or grab a donut, or put off your daily exercises, think of that fat wedding dress.
You are much tougher than you think, push yourself and be ready to celebrate in March.
