as for exercise. i get my workout at work. lol. i am a cook so i amon my feet 8 hours a day soetimes more just constantly moving.and i am short so i cant reach things so i am forever climbing up and down footstools and such to reach things.
i make all the sauces so my arms get a good workout when i have to stir these huge pots of sauce. or when i have to cut our fries. we have hand cut fries and the machine is a real work out. i am sweating and exhausted by then end of the daily 100lbs of fries i have to cut.
twice a week are order days. i have to put away the orders. some boxes are like 20lbs. then we have 50lb boxes of potatoes onions and carrots i have to carry and put away.
my diet is usually not too bad. yeah i have some cheats but overall pretty healthy.i try to stick to around 1200 calories a day.
Maybe you could add some exercise that you enjoy even if only a couple of times per week? Maybe a swim or a dance class? I love zumba.
1200 calories a day is very respectable. If your diet is low fat too I would maybe consider talking to your doctor. If you have a low cal, low fat diet and lots of exercise perhaps there is something else at play.
I have hypothyroidism which affects my metabolism and causes me to gain weight. The treatment I have just started should help correct that
I'm sorry you're struggling. If it helps you to feel less alone I'm up two pounds since the beginning of the year thanks to only a couple of days of bingeing. : (
Onward we trudge. I think my diet is pretty good overall as well but there are a number of folks on here who use a couple of phone apps to track their in take and exercise and that has got me thinking about doing the same thing. My cell phone is currently dead but I ordered a new battery which has been shipped but hasn't yet arrived. As soon as it does I'm getting the MyFitnessPal and FatSecret apps to try.
Don't worry about posting your weight. You might actually find it liberating if you feel you can't do it "in person". Everybody in this group is or has been overweight and no one will pass judgment on you for it.
Eat right Ontario has a toll free number to allow you to talk to a registered dietician. They have more nutrition training thatn a doctor does and are available M-F 9-5 and Tu & Th 9-9. I haven't tried it but it's where I'll go with any nutrition questions. The number is 1-877-510-5102 and they might have some nutritional advice for your cramps as well. You never know.
Also, it's possible that 1200 calories is not enough for you. If you are heavy, you need more calories than skinny people just for your body to function at all, keeping your organs running, etc. Not eating enough calories your body will go into starvation mode and save every calorie you are getting as a fat reserve. Doesn't make sense, but it's true. I have heard it recommended in fact that no one ever go on diets under 1500 calories/day.
Try eliminating all processed foods including sugar, bread and pasta and eat lots of veggies, fruit, beans, lean protein, nuts and seeds and see what happens.
I also agree with the food journal. Sometimes what we think we are eating throughout a day and what we actually eat are two different things.
I have had good luck with portion control because I am not good at keeping a food diary. Others, as reported here, have had excellent luck with food journals. Do what works for you!
I believe that the best way to go, especially for those of us who had a lot of weight to lose, is to talk to our doctor, and to talk to a nutritionist and/or dietician.
Have you posted about a monthly weighin before? I think you have. I would suggest that a more frequent weigh in might be helpful. I finally quit my Peanut M&M habit, and I have seen good results over the almost 2 weeks since I quit. A monthly weigh in may not be enough to help you see the results of change in your lifestyle.
As for being concerned about what other people say about your weight, there is a neat saying: "Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind!"
Gentle hugs
Together we can do this. I journal my feelings etc into fitnesspal as well as i journal struggles etc. I journal good/bad or indifferent as it is a accountability tool for me.
Perhaps halterbroke and mandoman are right, maybe 1200 calories is not enough for you? x
Thanks for the info. I don't think I have any reason to change it though. I guess I just ate really well yesterday :-)
plus i looked at my fitness pal and yeah they asked questions about your job and i should be according to that eating like 1500 calories a day since i am very active in my job.
i was excited for spring until the snow storm last night.but once the warmer weather gets here i can get outside more and go for a walk or hit the beach.
