You had a set of habits and diet that got you into a problem.
You need to change your habits and diet. (We ALL do!!!)
It is impossible to change things over night, so if you are better this week than you were last week, and better still the following week, you are on the path to a good place!
Look at the nutrition information on the back of the package. Most of them have those labels, so you should be able to tell if that made a huge dent in your allowable sodium for the day.
I just went to a nutrition seminar for my mother in law. They said that the suggestion for sodium is 1,500 MG of sodium per day. That package was 1/3 of your daily suggested maximum.
Are you in generally decent health? Blood pressure OK? If so then going over on sodium may not be a big deal for you if it is only a few times.
Small changes generally add up to a longer lasting change than sweeping changes.
I don't think the low calorie, low fat frozen foods are so terrible. They are certainly a better option than fast food, and a better option than a lot of restaurant food, because at least they are low calorie and low fat.
They can also be helpful when you really want to eat something hot.
When I eat them, I try to make sure I eat some fresh unprocessed food along with them. So I'll have some raw vegetables or a piece of fruit. If I can't do that, I'll try to make sure that my next meal is as unprocessed as possible. That way, I don't worry about the sodium. Also, I live a pretty low sodium life most of the time - I don't add a lot of salt to my food, and I don't use much salt in cooking. So when I consume salt in a frozen meal, I don't worry about it.
There are other ways you can eat healthy without eating frozen meals. But if you're just starting out, you may not yet be at the place where you are ready to either make a whole bunch of healthy food yourself or figure out other alternatives.
I agree with what Pepperman said about looking at this as a process and making gradual changes. Don't let the process of changing overwhelm you.
It's a hassle but I can feel the difference in my body. No more fatty or greasy foods.
Still learning but def want to continue on this path.
Thank you again for your advice! =)
I would like to add the the Smart Ones or Healthy Choice meals might be a better choice regarding sodium and sugar. But it would take some nutrition label comparing to be sure.
