Smaller plates, eat less, drink more water, exercise a lot, ...
So far it has helped me drop 35 pounds over a year.
15 more to get to 200 which my doctor says is a good target weight for me.
But I may shoot for 190 and then try to keep it between 190 and 200.
Remember, even if you have stayed at the same weight (plateaued) or gained weight this week, don't worry; it is likely just a temporary situation, and with patience and persistence, you can get that weight to come off.
Beaumont, I think you are right that some diets can be really complicated and confusing. I tried to do it on my own, counting carbs, fats, sugar, etc..but it was a huge drag for me, and I felt like I couldn't eat anything I really wanted. When I got discouraged, I started to stray, and gained a few pounds back of the 43 I had lost. Last week I started Weight Watchers, and am very happy and content with it. It's so easy to use, you eat real food, and in the first week, I lost 2 pounds.
I hope your calorie counting serves you well! Good luck to you!!
It has worked really well for me. My goal was to lose 34 pounds and I've lost about 29 since the week before Christmas (average of about 2 pounds per week). I hope to hit my goal in the next couple of weeks.
I don't think I could have done it without a formal plan with rules to follow. I am a rule follower, but obviously in the past I was not very good at setting the "rules" for myself.
What I consider complicated about it:
- I am supposed to take a bunch of vitamins and supplements each day
- I am supposed to eat a set number of servings of Protein, Starch, Vegetables and Fruits and track this in a journal
- I am only supposed to eat food off a designated list of foods
- I am supposed to visit their office to check in with a counselor 3 times a week.
What I consider simple about it
- The list of allowable foods takes away the guessing game of what I can eat and how much
- The vitamins and supplements keep me from having to worry about whether or not I covering all the nutrients I need
- Although it's annoying to make it to their office 3 times a week, it keeps me accountable
- They provide (I have to pay for them) high protein snacks that are actually quite good, so I don't have to give up my hot cocoa or my protein bars that I like to eat each day.
At this point I'm still finding it easy to follow the plan, but I am very anxious to move past it to enjoy the lifestyle changes I've made and to challenge myself to keep the weight off without the help of a set plan.
will enjoy life time of yoyo, on n off, n back on ride.
Granted right now my weight is yoyoing because I OD on grease salt sugar white flour n meat. I can't digest meat. However I found out that grease pizza w grease topping w sugar white flour crust is great laxitive.
yep most pizza dough has sugar in it. it can add up fast. loaf bread has sugar in it. peanutbutter... has sugar in it.

It's working so far, I've dropped 10 pounds in the past 2 months, which isn't as fast as some diets do it but I know this will increase once I start exercising. And I'm pretty happy with that anyway :)
I also don't get mad for having treats. It's almost easter, I had a chocolate egg today. It's not going to break my diet so why not :)
