Popcorn while it does have a lot of carbs also has fiber. If you are wanting something salty like that popcorn is much better for you than fried potato chips or something like that.
While there is no reason why you can't eat a little popcorn, try to limit the quantity so that your daily carb gms. don't exceed 80.
I agree that Atkins is too extreme. He advocated 20 or fewer carb gms. and lots of fat in the initial "induction" phase. Doesn't sound healthy to me! But 80 gms. of carb is very "doable", especially if you don't use any carbs for breakfast. Eat an omelet or some cheese. Then you still have room in your carb allowance for some popcorn! Good luck!
