Hopefully your not eating white flour carbs as those will cause more cravings for sweets. Eat only whole wheat breads and pastas.
Do you exercise at all? Even if you walked at a moderate pace 30 to 60 minutes a day it could help reduce your bp.
BTW, you are probably aware but many ppl w/alchol addiction also have food addiction. It is suggested that is due to your body craving the sugar the alcohol used to supply. We need to literally make new experiences for ourselves to change our brains... else they rely on the old paths we created. ie, addiction. I may not be stating this clearly but have been seeing more articles about it... worth researching online if you are interested though.
I too battle a wicked sweet tooth and understand how tough it can be. You have to decide how badly you want to conquer it. I used to eat more cookies at one sitting than I'm going to admit to here. And yes, the extra weight began to show quite rapidly.
I was beginning to feel disgusted with myself.
One day I looked in the mirror and asked myself, what on earth are you doing??? You know you love yourself, yet you are completely destroying your self-esteem, and I knew I was setting myself up for all kinds of serious health issues.
I decided enough was enough. I wanted to be around a long time for my kids' sake.
Now, the only types of food I put in my body are: chicken, pork, nuts, beans, natural peanut butter, fruit, veggies, wheat bread, high fiber cereal, eggs, and EVERY evening I allow myself to have 3 hersheys kisses. I eat them very slowly and still wish I could devour the entire bag, but I do not.
I am 3 months into my new healthy lifestyle and although I don't believe in scales, I do know the pounds have been quickly dropping by the way my clothes fit.
Having a dog helps too, since she needs her daily walks, and that is something I do morning and evening. My walks total 2 hours daily, but 30 minutes will certainly produce significant results!
I wish you the best of luck! I will send happy positive thoughts your way!
Take care of you..
Teresa :)
Very good comments and suggestions.
My husband who has been slim all his life and very active (marathons, basketball, softball etc.) was getting a huge belly.
Then he had his cholesterol check and blood sugar.
Very high cholesterol and one point below being Pre-Diabetic.
Well change was in order.
He has a HUGE SWEET CRAVING. His mother used to work at Loft's Cany Company in New York, so you can only imagine.
So: we he got rid of the excess bread (He used to put jam on the bread)
No cookes, pastries, etc.
But most importantly he now reads labels and looks for hidden sugars (high fructose corn syrup, etc.)
Has sugar free gelatin with plain/fat free yogurt as a snack.
I wish you well bobinmaine. I totally understand the concept of:
One is too much and a thousand aren't enough.
Blessings.
