That kind of approach never lasts, so don't waste your time like that.
Be realistic about what you are doing.
You want to lose weight and you need to get fit.
OK, do your food journaling and then take out the obvious bad foods from your diet.
Remember, you can't do it all at once, so just take out a couple things.
For example, if someone is drinking soft drinks, they should totally cut out those liquid sugar drinks. They are not good for you, and you can switch to unsweetened fruit juice which is better for you.
If you are eating alot of fatty foods, pick a couple and stop eating them for 2 weeks to see the difference.
If you are not eating salads, then pick up some ingredients and have a tiny salad every day.
If you are not eating veggies, go to the store and pick up a few. And I don't mean a can of mixed vegetables; go to the produce section and get fresh.
If you are drinking whole milk, cut down to 2%.
If you are eating white bread, switch to whole wheat. Actually, why not cut out bread for a couple weeks and you will notice a big change in how you feel.
there are tons of areas where you can make a change in your diet and that's where you need to focus. Even if you are eating super healthy, then cut down a bit on your portion sizes - if you normally eat 2/3 cup of something, cut down to 1/3 cup.
Always remember that whatever change you make, be sure it is something that you can change permanently.
Think about it. If you make a change and you lose 10lb as a result, what do you think will happen when you change back?
You guessed it - you may likely gain that 10lb back. So make changes permanent ones.
if you eat 1000 calories, you have to do stuff to work off that 1000 calories just to maintain your weight.
if you want to lose, then of course you have to do stuff that uses more calories than you are eating.
That's logical.
so kick up your exercising a notch. If you are just going for walks, try walking a bit faster each time or for a longer distance, or maybe even getting some 1lb ankle weights to wear while you are walking.
I guarantee that you will notice the difference from those weights.
And ladies, if you want some nice looking legs, those ankle weights help alot.
Think of a long distance runner and a sprinter. I think you are better off being the long distance guy who gets to the finish line with a slower and steady pace.
Losing weight is not a race, so don't treat it like one. Just do your best OK?
Getting fit should not take over your life, but it will if you allow it to take over.
Eat as healthy as you can, keep active, and with time, you will have good results.
