Looking forward to your post updates replys.
I normally eat 6 times per day, 150 to 300 cal at a time.
Fiber n water keeps me feeling full. When I have mid night refg raid, I always have 20 oz of ice water n hand full of dry fiber cereal n normally white seedless grapes ( which is mostly water n satisfies my sweet tooth ).
I have set cal intake level. I alot for bowl of dry cereal 50 cal's of set amount for extry ( mid night raid ) fiber cereal n/r veg. n r grapes or trail mix that is made w fiber cereal n 20 oz of water.
Again if we are takeing in enough ice water n fiber, we don't get hungery.
After 5pm, the Body needs time to digest ( use food) n to use fiber, n at night while we sleep the body uses water.
The body uses 5 of 8 oz of water while we sleep the brain uses most of remaining 3 % of water, while we sleep. When we eat after 5PM the body uses the food n not as much water.
In late evening, we have choise, convert most of foods into fat n fat cells r lose weight fairly quickly n healthy way w/o getting hungry.
Right now at 11:30 PM, I'm drinking ice water, right after I had 1/2 cup of dry fiber cereal.I'm not hungery it's just a mid night raid that will keep me feeling full n satistfie my need to chew.
Sorry if I repeated myself n/r didn't quite articulate n for mis spelling ..., darn sleeping aid.
If yo want to lose fat fairly quickly n safely n healthy way, do not eat after 5pm.
I'm new too! I just joined. I agree whole heartedly with Admiral1cu as far as Calories in, Calories out. I have lost over 200 pounds and am struggling with the last 60. I have found that if my last meal is at 6:00 pm I don't eat until 6:00 am. I found that if I let my body digest all of the food for a 12 hour period that I had eaten the day before it helps.
Welcome. I have a lot of empathy for what you are going through. I want to put in my two cents about some of the topics that have popped up in this thread.
Calories in, calories out doesn't work for everyone. It especially may not work for people with medical conditions that make exercise difficult and/or cause weight gain, and/or who take medications that either cause weight gain or cause their bodies to hold onto weight even more than usual. It sounds like you have a lot of experience tracking what you eat and your exercise, so you know better than anyone here whether calories in, calories out works for you or not.
I routinely eat dinner well after 5:00 p.m. and suffer no ill effects for it. (Calories in, calories out works for me.) There is a lot of "dieters lore" out there about not eating after this or that time. I've looked into it and found that professionals involved with weight loss made rules like this because they found that people tended to eat high calorie sweets late at night - foods like ice cream and cookies. So the thinking was that if they made a "don't eat after such and such time" rule, it would cut out a lot of the snacking that people indulged in after dinner. I don't know of any scientific evidence that says that we digest food differently later in the evening. I also think that if you followed the "don't eat after 5:00 p.m." rule and you stay up later than, say, 7:00 p.m., you would become very, very hungry and run a strong risk of eating all of the wrong things just to satiate the hunger.
Everybody is different where weight loss is concerned. What works for one person may not work for another.
I think it's great that you have improved your life and your food choices. That is a huge part of this battle. I hope you get a boost from the new meds. I can see how RNY would be appealing - there have been so many success stories in that area, and so many people who are able to shake illnesses like diabetes in the process. Hang in there.
When body sleeps. it slows down.
I know not to eat after 5PM.. I'm in bd for night at 9PM.
Before bd time,I take multi vitamin because the system slows therefore vitamin stays in my body longer n I less likely to pee out most of vitamin as we do during wakeing hrs.
During wakeing hrs my body digest food but is slow in useing it n most is converted into fat n entergy.
Based in part on example: I know that if I where to eat a steak n potatoe for dinner, n snack, morgirity of food in my tummy will be going to bd w me.
Just because we digest some of food,, will the part that some what digest is still being converted/used when we eat again/thoughout the dy.
Based on your reply I instantly through/ assume that either u woke up on wrong side of bed r alone, lol
Althought I must admit, apparently even when I'm not trying, I userly intentually get a person to react the way I want or do something.Opp's live petty intertainment, lol
Maybe I too need an additute adjustment/sex,lol
Sex is form of exercise, isn't it,lol, I barely recall. dang golden yrs,lol
I am 62 retired and mod active. I am 5'7" and had let my wt get to 175. I then decided to eat smaller portions and got down to 145. Now I am back to 150.
I usually stay up until at least midnight. I eat dinner at 5 or 6. I would like to allow a snack about 9 or 10 pm, but I can't do that. For some reason if I allow 1 snack, I keep on eating; its like I can't stop. Now after dinner I only allow liquids, water, coffee or 1 soda.
I crave sweets very bad, so I allow a few during the day. I have been like this all my life, so at 62 this will not change.
So now after dinner, there are no more snacks for me. I wt today was 148, so know if I continue I will lose and maintain. I would like to weigh about 120 eventually, but will see. I carry my wt in stomach and this seems to be the last to go.
Everyone have a great week and I am a work in progress....lol.....
I just wanted to say that I usually eat around 6 or 6:30pm. My kids don't come home from school until 5pm and by the time they have a little snack and watch a little tv, the best we can do for supper is at that time. Sometimes, I'm busy throughout the day and am rushing to get supper on the table. On these days we eat around 7 or 7:30pm. Also, when we get invited out to family gatherings or friends houses, we usually don't eat until 7;30 or 8pm. It all depends. Sometimes I don't get supper finished until 8pm. Everything depends on how busy we are and what is going on at the time. My kids have learned to adapt and know that supper will be late and eat a healthy snack to bide the time away.
Things happen... life happens.... you have to learn to go with the flow.
We do try to stick to a regular routine and eat supper at a decent time during the weekdays.
Anyways... the outcome of me losing weight has not been affected. I'm losing and feeling great. The time I eat, and what I eat does not affect my capability of losing weight.
Just wanted to say that. Thanks.
