I know I would be complaining exactly the same as you about the seemingly slow weight loss, but in the long run hopefully it will be easier to maintain a healthy weight having reached it in a manner that is sustainable.
Keep going strong!
My successes have come when I've made lifestyle changes. Limiting soda is a huge thing for me as I can quickly get sucked into the 64 ouncer thing!
I agree with Beesley, a pound a week is pretty good progress on the long term!
You could also think about it this way - if keep up a pound a week weight loss for a year before you plateu then that's over 50 pounds weight loss! If that's not going to help then you could think about other things that have changed for you since you began. Do you feel like you have more energy? Are you sleeping better? Is your skin better? Do you look any different? Do your clothes fit slightly differently? But most of all, are you feeling any happier?
Keeping a journal of what you are eating is another step. Take baby steps to get to where you want to be. Do each thing for awhile ( I think 30 days makes something a habit. ) Then add something new.
When I decided to change my lifestyle and the way I viewed food real change occurred in my quality of life, health, and an increase in weight loss. On August 1st I decided to eat completely vegan. Without trying I have dropped 16.5 pounds and weigh less than I have in at least 15 years.
I applaud that you are working out but I am way too lazy to work out beyond maybe some sit ups, free weights and walking on the treadmill. If I get a light work-out in a couple of times a week, I feel good about it.
Veganism is not for many people given the feedback I have gotten from friends and such but I just thought I would plant the seed if you had never thought of it as an option. I became a vegan so I can avoid future health issues and because I am a long term planner so the weight loss was actually unexpected.
Good luck in your endeavor!
