The kids are back in school and routine is starting to take place in my household again. I've been thinking for a while now to start some sort of exercise program. I figured I would start in the new year as part of my resolutions.... plus, my DH is paying monthly for a family membership at the local 'Y'. I've never gone.
Well, things changed today and I jumped right in. Literally. I haven't been to a gym in 8 years and have not done any sort of exercise apart from housework, shopping and gardening.
Of course i didn't take it easy and start slow and steady. No. I attended a ONE HOUR class called bootcamp. OMG... that class worked on everything from aerobics, weights, stretching and lunges. It was very fast paced and I actually kept up. I'm very proud of myself.
I'm still on the high rush I got from the class and it was over one hour ago. I feel energized and excited. But... I'm sure I'll be talking a different story tomorrow.
Maybe this wasn't the class to jump right into.....
I actually did light housework and ironing all morning up until early afternoon.
I went out shopping and did some walking around the grocery store to loosen up my tight, sore muscles.
Then I had to drop off my daughter for an activity and while she was there, I went and did more shopping at Costco. I was there for over one hour pushing a heavy cart and making my arm and leg muscles do a lot of work.
I never realized how much muscles we use to push a cart until now. I guess I'm so sore that I feel every movement. LOL
I hope I got some of the kinks out. My thigh muscles are soooooo sore. I think I need to sit down now and have a nice cup of tea and relax.
I was knee deep in chores and clean up. I couldn't leave everything just to go to the gym... I can't do that.
Plus... I could feel the water retention and I really wasn't in the mood to go.
I spend the entire day ironing and finishing cleaning out my drawers and closet. I got rid of things that I'll no longer wear. They fit. But I don't like the style anymore.... it's not me. I've changed.
I had things in there that were older than my kids are.
I went to the gym and did a 45minute session of aerobic steps (on some machine.... I hated it.... I didn't feel like it was doing anything) and on a rowing machine. I loved that. I felt like I was getting a full body workout! I needed to get the kinks out of my body... the ones I developed during the bootcamp.
I also spent the rest of the day doing major, heavy duty house cleaning. That in itself was a major workout.
No gym for me today. I have no time. I have to finish the housecleaning that I started yesterday. There was so much to do and I couldn't get it done. I don't want to leave things half done. I want a nice clean house from top to bottom.
After that, I will continue to do my ironing and cleaning out/sorting out my closets and drawers. I hope to be done today....
I spent the morning lazing around. I had no motivation.... I was soooooo tired!
I finally mustered up some energy and continued cleaning out my papers, odds and ends in my final drawers. I also started to deal with some of the boxes that are randomly sitting in my room taking up space. At least I can put things away properly now in my drawers. I have lots of place for some new clothes! lol
I've been so busy doing my own sort of exercise.... cleaning up the clutter I've collected and stuffed into drawers and boxes. I cleaned up (and got rid of) four boxes in the last two days. There were a mish mesh of items in them and they all had to be put away into their 'proper' homes. Some didn't have 'homes' so I have to make them. Today. I'm not leaving chores partly done.
I'm not going to open up any more boxes today. I'm going to finish up dealing with my clothes!
I wanted to go to the bootcamp class last night.... the class that got me back into the gym. I really liked it.
Unfortunately, my DH was out of town... actually out of country..... and I couldn't leave the kids and go. It was a late evening class.
DH got home at 2:00 am!
Yesterday I painted my daughter's room That was exercise! I was stretching and reaching and trying to get the kinks out of my body. I was so sore from trying out some machines at the gym. It's been years since those muscles were isolated and I was in pain the whole day and night. I couldn't sleep due to the pain.
This morning I spent almost one hour learning new machines and using them properly. I don't feel the pain yet and i hope i don't. I tried not to overdo it.
I spent the afternoon doing a second coat of paint and will spend the evening doing the accent wall.
I think that's a lot of exercise in the traditional and non-traditional ways... I will just crash in the late evening and relax and enjoy some pizza and a movie.
Okay..... finished painting my daughter's room this afternoon. This evening I helped her get it all back together and we put out all her new 'stuff'. It looks great and the look on her face was priceless when everything was in place.... she had so much pride.
Anyways.... because of the priceless times we spent together creating her new memories, I opted NOT to go to the bootcamp workout at the gym tonight. I am soooooo glad I did. NOTHING can replace and NOTHING can be so important as the time we spent together.
Can you believe I spent the entire day doing errands and grocery shopping? I came home just in time to be there for my daughter and then go and pick up my other daughter and son from their bus stop. I gave them a quick snack and had to leave for more appointments and errands. We finally ate supper at 7:30 and I just put away the groceries NOW. They were in the car and I had forgotten about them. Can you believe that the frozen foods were still frozen??? After 7 hrs in the car??? That's how cold it is here.
I still can't believe that I did all these errands on such a cold day.... I'm now sneezing and feeling it in my bones. But, it's got to get done!
