Basically stick to a healthy diet, no white breads, pastas, potatoes or rice (starches hold the numbers higher longer) use the light versions of bread in multigrain or wheat, try dreamfields pasta, use small sweet potatoes, no fried foods, do baked or broiled. learn to read labels and portion control is very important. Try to limit your carbs to about 30-45 per meal and about 15-20 for a snack.
veggies good, even small fruits and yes you can have a sweet once in a while but take the carbs in that to be part of your meal.
keep track of your food you eat and the amount of carbs at least once a full week each month to see if you are still on track (even after 17 years I still do this) and of course Don't forget the exercise.
