Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Did you eat something in between your cereal and after golfing before 420? Are you on oral only meds or do you also take insulin?
You CANNOT skip meals. This is rule number 1 for diabetics. The meds we take generally work VERY well in most people and you cannot skip; meals otherwise, you'll drop like you experienced. Sounds like you've talked to your doctor already so I would suggest just not skipping meals. Being active (such as golfing) can cause a dip in blood sugar so it's especially important on days like that not to skip a meal.
You can google the different types of hypoglycemia and see if any of them are a good fit with all your symptoms. Until you get it figured out I would urge you to get some glucose tabs they are fairly inexpensive and very fast acting and fit in your pocket. :) I sure hope you get it figured out. If your doctor doesn't seem to be concerned about this you need to find a new doctor because a blood sugar reading of 60ish can be very dangerous not only for you but others if you are driving.
