I was feeling like giving up because I never could get any good results.. High numbers no matter what I did.. Ended up in ICU with keyoacidosis.. that's when/how I found out I didn't create any insulin. No amount of pills would have helped..
You could try adding in couples physical activity.. such as a walk together daily.. Food is a hard one to tackle.. Hard to make a grown up eat something they don't want to. Just be supportive of whatever decisions he makes.. Don't try to "parent" him by telling him what he should and shouldn't do.. He likely already knows.. And if not a doctor can tell him and a doctor can suggest a dietician meeting and diabetes education classes.
