Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
that's before any weight loss So what is it that is effecting the blood glucose levels.
Also wonder why it is only the obese people they will do this on. Why not regular weight diabetics? Not sure if I would do that at this point in time but it'ssomething to think about..
I though it was after they lost weight. Wondered why they said they know longer were diabetic just after surgery.
Is this only with the bypass or is it with the lap band too? Can they just take out the duodenum? I have seen people with the by pass have other problems too. I know of woman that had the staple does that get rid of diabetes 2?

If your BMI is greater than 40, then one treatment alternative for you may be Bariatric surgery. If your BMI is over 35 but you have a significant number of health problems (ex: diabetes, sleep apnea) caused or made much worse by your weight, then you might also consider Bariatric surgery as a treatment option.
I am at 38 and my doctor said I don't qualify anymore - because I lost 50 pounds and am off blood pressure pills. He says besides the diabetes, I am very healthy. He almost sounded disappointed. lol The hospital he works out of has a wonderful bariatric center with a great success rate. He is definitely proud of that.
Well, Hope, at least I know I'm not anorexic !!!
