Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Hope that makes some kind of sense.
Plus if you had Ritz "relationship" lol, and of course the butter then you probably had too many calories which of course can lead to weight gain,
Has your doctor checked you for thyroid? have them do the TSH, FT4 and FT3 since that can add weight and it can mess with your nails, hair, eyes etc
No, she had only checked the TSH with the annual physical (never heard of the other two-FT4 & FT3) . I cannot find my paper right now to give the number that the reading yielded but I think it was something like 4.35 (or 4.53) in June 2013. I certainly will check back with her on the other tests. Thanks you all!!! I still have so much to learn (I thought I'd know it all about diabetes after a year!). As things change, I find out there is more to learn!!! Again, thanks for being here..I can go to work breathing a bit easier. (Had gotten the results in the mail).
Doctors have this immaculate TSH belief - they think the TSH alone is all they need to worry about...but many, including me have a normal range TSH but yet I have symptoms (eyes, hair, and shakes etc) because the others are out of wack.
One person's normal is not another person's----the range is different for everyone with thyroid problems. Best is to know that if you have symptoms then the meds are not controlling the disease.
Being as informed logically about diabetes is the same as the thyroid but much easier. IMO
So they do inter-relate with one another just like the whole body all works together as one.
