Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

Good Morning Everyone!
Here is my week 9 update. Today was weigh in day. I am continuing to slowly but surely inch down on the scale. I was 214.4 this morning which means Ive released 13.2 pounds since starting this journey the end of July. I wanted to average 1 to pounds a week so Im right where I wanted to be at this time. My blood sugar readings continue to be good with the exception of the fasting number being too high.
Ive decided to not make any new goals and to continue to work on the ones Ive already made. Im still struggling with the more exercise part of my goal but figure that will come as the weight continues to come off. During Labor Day week, I slipped with the ice cream. I had 4 of the low fat ice cream bars during that time period that we keep for Mike. He likes those after he has been out mowing in the sun. That being said, we only went to DQ for a cone once and that was actually allowed with my goal. All of my other goals are being met easily. So for now, Im just going to keep doing what Im doing because its working and hope to add more exercise as I begin to trust my knee and ankle more.
How are all of you doing? Ill leave you with a thought I have on my wall......
What if my eating were based on rational and nutritional choices rather than emotional ones? What changes would I make in my eating habits? What foods would I eat? What foods would I eat less of?
Hmmmmmmm..I dont know about you, but I always want to reach for a bowl of ice cream, a cookie or some other sugary treat when Im sad, angry, fearful or hurt..exactly what I did as a child. The fix for me is to not have it in the house because Im lazy. I wont go out and get it. J
I hope you have a great day! Linda

it sounds like your doing great...high five. I have diffently have changed my diet ove the last three months. I gave up sweets except for an occasional treat. It was hard for awhile, all I could think about was chocolate; but the craving is mostly gone (I still have it, but not constant). I find when I do eat a cookie, its not as satisfying as it was, its actually too sweet for me (never thought anything could be too sweet), Ive also given up simple carbs (white pasta, potatoes, etc) and switched to complex carbs. That is still a struggle, I love pasta & potatoes. Another thing I stopped eatting is cheese...another hard thing. After 3 months, I am feeling better, I am learning to love veggies, and actually craving "good" food. The weight is coming off slowly without much effort (maybe due to lots of fiber foods). I do need to start excersieing.
