Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I use 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar (Briggs is recommended, but I use the cheap store brand....not fond of Great Values, but Heinz or other store brands are ok). I mix it with about 5 or 6 ounces of water (8 ounces are recommended) and drink it before bed time. I'm not crazy about the taste, but it beats the high morning numbers. I read you can drink this before or after your meal(s)....I only do this at bedtime....it helps me sleep better too :)
You can drink it cold or hot. You can use an artificial sweetener....but I drink it without since I don't care for artificial sweetners anyways.
You can google it....but I'd still recommend you talk it over with your doctor.
BTW ~ My fasting numbers are between 108-118 ninety nine percent of the time which is within that 120 limit recommended by my doctor. I still have to watch what I eat and stay within my carb count of 35-50 carbs per meal.
Good luck!
Biotin and Greek yogurt help me keep my numbers in control.
I eat 2 slices of whole wheat bread, a few slices of cheese, (I have been on a kick of guacamole instead of butter on my open face sandwiches lately), so fresh veggies/salad, and fruit for each meal.
I have been able to keep my sugars in balance through healthy eating. The apple cider vinegar is a great supplement. I also use Cinnamon on my sweet potatoes which I heard is also great in helping control blood sugars. I haven't noticed it controlling or regulating my blood sugars, but it tastes great and is good for ya over sugar.
I don't know what other test your doctor ran on you that indicated you were NOT diabetic....and A1C? However, the numbers you provided tells me you are diabetic....however, I am not a doctor, so I can not diagnose or treat you or anyone. This is only my observation. If your doctor is saying diabetes can be reversed, I'd be a bit leery and seek out a second opinion or see an endocrinologist. To me, you are diabetic or you are not....or on your way to being diabetic by being pre. The only remedy to delay diabetes or slow it down is to watch your diet and exercise....which should be done even if you are healthy.
This is just my shiny nickels worth :)
I NEED an edit button plz :P
I do eat the bread or sometimes whole wheat pita chips, I just am careful with that and fruit. IMO both are good, necessary, and a healthy part of my diet.
I think of my eating as a lifestyle and not a "diet" which is helpful in my approach in managing diabetes.
I lost alot of weight when I found out I had the high BP, and over time and diet, I lowered my numbers. My BP is now in check due to my lifestyle changes. I realize now I need to tweak those changes and drop the 30lbs (which I am making positive strides). I appreciate the advice, but I think with sticking to my plan and dropping the weight and getting back into running 2 miles a day once the westher breaks, I can get to where I need to be and where my Dr. wants me to be
