Does anyone know if having pre-diabetes cause TSH tests to indicate hyperactivity? I have Graves disease & had my thyroid ablated 13 years ago. I've been on replacement for those 13 years. For the last 2 years my TSH tests have swung from normal to hypo to hyper. The last 4 tests have all indicated hyper with the levels not improving by much, even with lowering doses 3 times now.
I can't find anything that indicates it would cause a hyper result. All seem to indicate going the other way. I know there are a couple of people on here with Graves disease & wonder if you ever noticed a problem.

my doc said these two diseases tend to go hand in hand sometimes.
I was 'classified as subclinical hyperthyroid/graves disease. my TSH is low but the FT4 and T3 are right at the top of the range. Tho this past month I have begun to experience symptoms and not a fun thing.
I see my doctor Monday and going to let her know it is time for meds for this,
Have you talked with your doctor? what meds are you on? there is another group here for Graves disease that might help, they are pretty knowlegable
Gayle: I had my thyroid killed (ablated) because I was severely hyperthyroid & it was affecting my heart big time, plus my GI track & moods & hair & skin & so on. It affects your metabolism.
My thyroid replacement med is levothyroxine. And I've been on atenolol since because my heart rate never did recover well.
You do know that thyroid levels also affect your cholesterol & blood pressure?
Yes the symptoms are not fun. Some people get away with using meds to suppress the thyroid. My endocrinologist chose not to because I was so hyper & also because I had nodules on my thyroid.
