Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I was getting a pedicure from a Salon, however, my Endo Doc had a fit and insisted I go to the Podiatrist. The price is the same, I just don't get my toes painted..LOL
Your feet and hands are the farthest from your heart so it takes longer for the blood flow to get there, so it takes longer for a sore to heal.
I would suggest you let the Doc take a look at you "nip" if it has not healed. Lots of sores on a Diabetic heal from the outside first, and you want it to heal from in inside first.
Hope this helps and ask any question you want, that is why we have a "support board".
Also don't go barefoot outside especially since if you have neuropathy you might not feel stepping on something
No question is trivial either, I agree w/carrottop50. That is why this group is here to help each other out. Many of the people here have walked this long much longer than others and have great advice.
Hugs,
Gabby
