I'm wondering if my tester might be a bit of the problem. I think I've been getting higher results ever since I switched to the Bionime tester.

What does everyone use? Do they differ or are they all good?

If you are due for a blood test then you can take your meter in at the same time and test with it right after the blood test.
When you get your test test resutls compare it with the meter and If it's within 10% of your testing, then the meter is accurate.

you can also just take the meter when you visit your doctor, the meter they use is sent out to be calibrated so it is extremely accurate, have them test and you test and you can get the difference. Meters you buy or receive should be 5 to 10% difference with the doctor's

I went back to my original meter, and am happy to say the #'s are much better now. Back to a more normal...like they were before I changed meters. I only changed because the store didn't have my strips when I ran out.

every meter will give you a different reading, can be frustrating at times. they are to be within a set guideline as to how accurate, but go ahead and take to the doctor's next time you go, you test and they will test (theirs has to be right on) and then you can see the difference

Hey there,

I double check my meter whenever I go for blood work. I also double check when I have a doctor's appointment as well.. To be honest, I also keep an eye on my blood glucose graph that I have with PCMDR. In fact, when I change meter, I keep an extra close eye on it for a few weeks.

I have used the one touch ultra mini meter, the Bayer Contour USB meter (Ascensia in the USA), and now I use the MediSure meter (which is a new meter available in Canada only for now). A big choice factor for me was the cost of the test strips! For my American friends, Canada pays the highest prices for our test strips in the world! I asked about the ReliOn brand from Walmart but they are not available in Canada. For 100 test strips, most of the brands cost between $89-125 per hundred. MediSure sells their strips for $49 per hundred! My last two blood tests, my MediSure meter was bang on, EXACTLY the same result as their meters. I did test the Bayer and it was off by 0.2 mmol/dL (3-4 mg/L in US Measurements).

even our test strips are in those price range Lary.. I do not understand why there is such a wide range of prices for something that is the same, just different brand names

Just wanted to let others know that Costco also sells test strips which you may wish to compare to Walmart prices.
