I have a ReliOn from Walmart and I can only use the strips that are made for it.
I'm not sure about other meters. However, if you bought the strips, they are non returnable so give it a try or read the box/instructions....it should state which strips go with that particular meter.

Probably not. However, if you call Accu-Chek and register your meter and tell them what happened, they may send you some.

I registered my meter and just recently they send me a new meter(no coding) a new lancet device and test strips. So it is work registering your meter.

no, take them back to the pharmacy, also check to see if doctor ordered wrong...you should have Accu-chek smartview test strips for the nano (I have one)

I called my pharmacy and talked to them, they will be ordering the right ones for me and will take the ones they gave me back. I use a family run pharmacy that is great to work with. Also found a Rite Aid that carries them where I didn't need a prescription to get them. For now I'm good and can deal with it when I get home.

yes you can buy over the counter for the test strips pretty much anywhere, but if you have insurance, much better price wise. Glad your pharmacy will exchange them

I would've gone through my insurance, and will when I get home but I'm over the road(traveling) right now and needed them immediately. My insurance doesn't cover them until I meet my deductible so I'm paying out of pocket anyway.

I went to the Accu-chek website to ask about the test strips. I got a response today. They can't be used with the nano but they have sent me a new meter, the Aviva meter. I don't need a new meter, I needed test strips for the one I have, that I was able to find locally.

LOL, you can get all the free meters you want just by doing things like that, my doctor has given me a couple, shoot even Medicare has gotten into this and provided me with a new Nano since what I used before, they no longer would provide the strips for since they felt the accu-check were more accurate.

my medicare advantage insurance provides me with free test strips, lancets which makes things nice.

I test more often then my ins will allow, especially when my numbers are running high, so I have tried some cheap meters with strips that only cost about $20 for 100.
Sometimes the readings match my more expensive Freestyle strip readings, sometimes they are a bit off, but that may also be because when I lance the second time, I move it just a bit.
The cheap meters are a good way of getting in an extra test after meals, since now I have to test before meals to calculate the insulin. It would also be cost effective while in the deductible or the Medicare donut - - - which I will be facing in less than 2 years.

you will always see a variance in the readings from one meter to a next. Basically they are to give us an idea of how we are doing, like a guide line, even if you do two tests right away on the same meter, you will get different reading.

JRT when you go on medicare, and of course you will have to get a medicare advantage which will cover meds, talk to the various ones before you choose especially about diabetes meds/supplies. With mine, as long as the doctor writes the prescription for the test strips telling me to test 3 times a day, then they have no questions about giving me them and under medicare the supplies are free,
