Personally, here's my scale and what I use in case of a high:
180-200: High, but manageable (adequate).
200-299: Needs to improve
300-399: Unacceptable
400-499: Retake, and if still above 400 after second time, go to your doctor
500 and above: Consider going to the emergency room.
I have tested non diabetic sugar levels after lunch and they are around 140...
But all this depends on what u eat.
Don't get stressed.
My golden rules. 1 hr walk daily
Eat a little less carb than a normal nob diabetic
& stay stress free. Njoy. Life.
I know diabetics who are healthier than normal person.
What's hardest on the body are big swings in numbers..
