And yes, dumping sugar into your system with cookies is a very unwise thing to do at any time of day. Cookies will almost always give a diabetic a "spike". They are so bad for us diabetics on so many levels. Please get some education.
There is something called the dawn effect and you can't really control it,
Numbers fluctuate all day, whether diabetic or not. We unfortunately have a harder time processing the carbs since our liver and pancreas no longer function together as they should.
You should really be testing at least 3 times a day, morning fasting and 2 hours after a meal(pick a different meal each day) and then at night before bed.
