Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

I would like to find no sugar sweets that taste good.

My mom is also diabetic, but eats everything, but uses portion control However, ice cream spikes her sugar to nearly 200. She is elderly, but has many health issues and feels like crap most of the time. I don't say anything cuz it's her life and telling her just gets her upset which makes her sugars even higher.
You have to do what is good for you or works for you.
I stay away from the foods that make me feel crappy.....I'd rather feel good and have energy to enjoy my life and those I love....but that is just me. I have found substitutes for treats or I count that carb into my meal or snack. I splurge once in awhile, but only 1/4 cup of a treat.
Just do the trial and error thing. Don't over do it.....a 1/4 cup of any treat should be ok occasionally. Eat it slowly and enjoy it and you should be ok....HOWEVER only your doctor and you together can decide that. Good luck :)
I eat sweets once in a while but I don't do the full portion size, just enough to get a taste, and of course depends on what my numbers are 2 hours after eating. I also take into my carb counts also
How big a spike are you talking, testing 2 hr after, and what did you have to eat....so many factors count for this
