Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Seriously though, the biggest and the best thing that you can do for yourself is to take care of you! At first, it all seems so intimidating but you know what? You are going to be just fine. Besides, you have an awful lot to look forward to, watching your babies grow up and being a big part of their life. You know, it is very empowering to take control over your diabetes instead of it controlling you!
Keep track of your blood glucose and keep an eye on your exercise and what you eat! Take some time during the day to exercise and make it a bigger bonding experience by taking the twins out for walks or even to the playground! The biggest things you can do to get under control are diet and exercise, Gayle gave you some wonderful pointers for food, and if you want recipes, you can go to dlife.com where they have a real treasure trove of great recipes.
I have a website where you can keep your logs, we have a place for you to put in your blood glucose, weight, blood pressure, a food log, an exercise log, a sleep log lots of stuff! It is a free site and it is at http://pcmdr.ca and we are really proud of it!
We are all here to help you and we will get you through this. Heck, before you know it, you are going to be giving advice to the other newbies and perhaps stop Gayle from playing the practical jokes on people (Great Big Evil Grin). Some of the very best people I have ever met are here in this group and they all have the same thing in common, they care about you!
HUGS!!!
