I just spent two hours on the phone getting authorizations for test strips. My insurance only authorizes 60 days for each 100 strips. I'm supposed to test twice daily, so I asked how am I supposed divide 60 into 100 and end up with 2? I finally got some very helpful person on the phone and she overrode the system to allow a refill because I just used my last strip this morning. Now, the pharmacy is out of lancets! That is not such a big deal, because I have a surplus of those. This is not unusual at my pharmacy. Does anyone else encounter things like this? Does anyone have issues like this? How did you handle it? I realize that this is not the biggest problem that ever was, I would just like to find a way to avoid all red tape, if possible. Thanks. Hope everyone had a good weekend. yes insurances do make it tough at times. I use the walmart generic lancetts, they fit my lancet holder or thing amabob lol....I will usually get 2 boxes of 100 which will pretty much last me the year and I pay for them outright since they are so cheap.

With medicare, they also had a limit but my medicare advanage plan had no problems with filling for 100 a month, my doctor just wrote on the prescription order form I was to test 3 times a day. I was all prepared to use the walmart reli on meter and their strips if need be since they are inexpensive also

do you guys change lancet every time or use the same needle many times please advise on that .

Yep..the new HealthCare is causing lots of problems..lancets no problem..but I been having a problem with Insulin..so yes..there are problems.

I use mine for no more than 3 times, they tend to actually get dull and hurt more so

No, not really bad, looking back at it now, I would have to say I change lancet about every 3 days, I was in a rush when I wrote that last email. As soon as I do a poke that hurts, I change the lancet. Sorry bout that bad info.

I am also on Meidcare and I have A medicare Advantage Plan. I get 300 strips per month. I'm going to get a prescription for a new meter the Veriio IQ whch uses different and I am expecting a prblem with getting two different strips because my bacup meteres will not be able to use the same strips as the new meter. As for lancets, there is a grocery store here that will give them to you for free (Price Chopper) and pen needles also. I have not had to buy either for a long time as people keep giving them to me. I do not change with each stick or I would be chaning ten times a day.
