Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

Good Morning Everyone!
I hope everyone is having a great day. I have started reading the Diet Rehab book along with setting weekly goals to achieve a weight release and also get my diabetes back in check. As of this morning, I have released 7.8 pounds in 4 1/2 weeks. Yay! My blood sugar levels are right in line with where they should be. Yay! I thought I would share the "Because Exercise" that I just did from the book. I was very impressed with how good I felt after I did it. I'm supposed to now carry it around with me and read it before each meal. Thinking positive thoughts raises ones Serotonin levels according to the book.
Because Exercise from Diet Rehab Aug 22 2012 (Wednesday)
This exercise asks me to pick a positive statement about myself that I know logically to be true and to come up with as many reasons as possible for why it is true.
Positive Statement
I am a courageous person because:
I speak up even when Im afraid
I share my fears with others
I get up more times than I fall down
I share my secrets with others
I lived through an abusive childhood and am able to help others today because of that
I saw the signs of abuse in another family member and helped them come forward even though I knew it would rock the family
I reached out to my daddy when I knew where he was after 30 years even though I was afraid I would be rejected
I keep putting one foot in front of the other no matter how I feel inside
I have hope even in the darkest of hours
I left a job after 33 years to take a new job
I went to an interview when I hadnt been on one in 33 years and I excelled!
I lived with alcoholism in the first 20 years of our marriage and went on to see recovery come into our marriage. Thankful that my husband is now in AA and I in Al-Anon for almost 20 more years. Celebrated 39 years of marriage on Aug 10th. I am able to bring experience/strength/hope to others now affected by alcoholism in a friend or loved one.
I made the trip to Kansas City to see Sue even though I was terrified for weeks prior to it.
I made the trip to Eureka Springs although the curvy, mountain roads were going to be hard for me.
I seeked professional help although I was afraid I would start crying and never stop once I went.
I came into this new job knowing that a 340B program hadnt been developed and I would need to do that. However, most of my positions have been that type where I step up and take them on.screw machine operator, secretary, Buyer and 340b. I believe those are gifts that come again from that abusive childhood.
I rode on a plane to go see my family in Rhode Island.
I have told my story and been a speaker at multiple 12 step meetings.
I go to the doctor even when I dont want to
I no longer bury my head in the sand
I share who I really am instead of who I think someone else wants me to be
I am happy, optimistic and very much an encourager of others.
I see the "gift" among the pain.
Care to do your own "Because Exercise" and share with us? I hope you all have a great day, unless of course you have other plans. Linda
