Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
When the fact that I had diabetes struck me was when I went into the hospital three years ago and I had to have the partial amputation of my left foot. I kicked myself for not taking care of myself and letting my diabetes progress to that stage. I was also really depressed at the time because I came to realize that if I continued on that path, I was not going to make it! That is when I started to take my diabetes seriously!
Take care all!

I was mad that we hadn't learned more and done more when he was told he was pre-diabetic. I felt like the doctor didn't stress how important it was, and that this diagnosis could have been delayed.
As far as personal emotions? it was just one more thing to deal with along with other health issues, and I am a "how do I fix this" type person. I also didn't cry and wring my hands....as my husband says I said it....I don't remember..."I don't do sympathy. Sympathy is between Sh*t and Syphilis in the dictionary" ...Control issues anyone? ;)
Here I am with an A1C of 6.2, take 4-5 shots a day, the trick is to do everything the Doc tells ya to stay healthy and in control.
I went to the Eye Doc today I have Glaucoma..can't take some meds because of Diabetes. The Doc also said your Diabetes is in good control or your eye problems could be worse
So if you have Diabetes..take control cause if you get anything else..just how you control your Diabetes effects your other problems.
The good news, the insurance cost didn't skyrocket, I did fine on the meds and cleaning up my diet and getting back into regular exercise were long overdue.

So, I have gone thru a lot since that day !! I have changed a lot of things and one thing I am wanting to do is to get this extra weight off so that maybe I can go off my meds ... so we will see what happens !!
Anyway if anyone wants a friend ... feel free !!
and sometimes still just sit and cry and was diagnosed in 2008
I knew it was coming, but somehow was still in denial until the diagnosis. Then resigned, like okay, here it is, finally.
