Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

Hi all, I just joined today because I have a serious need to connect with other peeps who understand what I'm talking about. Diagnosed T2 in 2012, but was without med care for the last 5 years. Recently Presented in the ER with a serious infection, and my random test was 387, and A1C was 11.1.
Dang, first post ever and it cut me off lol! So, I've brought the A1C down to 8.1 in 3 months, metformin, Lots of exercise, ew, lots of rabbit food and testing daily. So far so good.
The screwy thing about me is that I've had depression since I was a kid. I'm on 2 meds for that also now, and ]m doing better mentally, thoughts of suicide have calmed way down and I'm trying to get a better job at the moment. But, it has driven me insane to find out that not only did the depression probably contribute to an early diagnosis, I'll also have higher risk factors for a deadly CV event, just because the two exist together, not to mention the barriers to self care that could change my new, good habits to bad. I also found out that socializing and having a better support system will keep me from some of that CV risk. How will I ever get to the point I could make new friends like that? I feel like most people hate me, and I'm strong, I just am not feeling enthusiastic about that because I have no control over who chooses to connect with me or not. I've been strong in dealing with the depression, but now combined with the diabetes, I don't feel as strong as I used to.
What do y'all do to deal with sadness, fatigue, loneliness that you've felt as a diabetic? Have you found helpful resources that help you to help yourself?
If I'm gonna be here on this earth, I want as normal of a life as I can manage, and I feel really abnormal right now.

I wasgoing to take a picture of the car but the owners cameback and drove away. It was an ordinary middle age...
