New to Fast Acting Insulin - #'s are spiking

I need a little help/advice here.
I took my first shot of NovoLog last night, dose as per instructions from MD.
I have been taking - Januvia and glimepiride, which are "long acting" meds, and Levemir at night, also "long acting".

My #'s have now spiked, much higher than my usual.
This morning my #'s just about hit 300.
Tonight again my #'s are still in the high 200's.
I'm wondering if my Liver isn't seeing the fast surge of insulin as a cry to make or put out more glucose into the blood.

Is this something like the Dawn Effect? And will my body (Liver) eventually adapt and let the insulin work the way it is suppose too?

Everyone liver that has diabetes makes more sugar at night. My blood sugars use to be in the 200s in the morning, as well. I was on Levemir slow acting insulin, but we found this did not work well for me so I am now on Lantus solar flex and Humalog fast acting 10 units after each meal. I am starting to get really good numbers below 150 and keeping a food diary along with watching the carbs I take in for meals and snacks. Hope this helps. Don't give up.

I hear it takes a bit for the insulin to start working, I don't do insulin but I am sure others who are on it will respond and also do let your doctor know

thanks Mzizgale - - - your words gave me a bit of comfort.

Actually a few times I have resorted to taking my oral meds again. My numbers continue to hover around the 200 mark.

I thought the insulin would help restore or reverse some of my resistant cells, as an author I am reading talks about. He uses this method in his medical practice for type 2's as well.
And I thought the insulin would cost a lot less than Januvia which is about $30 per pill, and not have the side effects of the Metformin.

Turns out the insulin pens with needles are still costing half of that per day. ($7.50 for each type)
Not good as I am facing Medicare in about 2 years.
