Got test results back this week (A1c 5.7 - Woo Hooo) and Doc pointed out the GlycoMark test result. I have never seen this before or read about it here. The lab report says "GlycoMark is intended for use with managing glycemic control in diabetic patients. A low result corresponds to high glucose peaks. Reference Range for adult females 6.8 - 29.3"

Is this something new, or have I just not been paying attention?

Me also. My meter stores my readings and gives me a 7-14- or 30 day average, Miss Gayle you use Accu-Chek to...right?

I watched the Video, I think it'd be cheaper to test more than pay an office visit and then pay the Lab. I go next week to the Doc I'll ask him what it is about.

I think it means go back to your healthy diet.

Thanks folks; Gayle, if you as a 17 yr veteran fighting this alien have not heard of it I don't feel so bad. Grannie, you're right that all the tests mean go back to the healthy diet.

The good news is the doc said my result on this test was encouraging; diabetic control is greater than 10 and mine was 15.6. There is still a lot of improvement I need to do re diet ..... now that it has been so chilly there has been less sweet frog stops.

Thanks Gayle, that site was very informative. I had not hears of it either. I have looked into using a senor on a continuous basis, which reads your blood, I believe ever 15 minute to every hour.

Yes I have the accu-tek nano, I also have an ap that I can load my numbers into that gives the averages, etc. To download the nano to the computer, the software and hardware is about 100.00 and I am not willing to do that lol

Seems another test of limited value if it shows the peaks over the last 2 weeks. Is its likely to effect the treatment ?
Diabetic control is hit and miss anyhow this just seems something else to worry about with out helping much.
they'll probably develope a drug to cut the peaks if this test became popular.

Although I don't know much at all about GlycoMark, I know one of my Vitamins is GlycoHelp and so that's as much as I know about the word. Congradulations on this A1C, it is a blessing to see this number. I hope it will continue to work this well. I am proud of you. I am not an expert on words, but it means a lot you shared all of this with all of us.

Lost - it did seem like a two week evaluation was of pretty limited value. What made me curious was the doc specifically pointing out that this reading was "the most encouraging of all." Heck, I was quite encouraged with a 5.7 a1c which seems to be the test we all focus on other than our home testing bg numbers. You're probably right about coming up with more drug therapy if this newfangled test indicates lots of us have peaks that are too high.
