Yes, it is a new way of life. Maybe you're not so much complaining as you are just still adjusting both physically and mentally to the idea that the way you used to be able to eat....the way non diabetics get to eat is no longer good for you. Let's face it, veggie's and low carb isn't near as satisfying as french fries, and spaghetti, and breads and desserts. I think though that once we gain good control of our disease we can allow ourselves those yummy things, in moderation, occasionally.
I too am sodium restricted and find some recipes call for more salt than is really needed. It will be trial and error for you to learn this new lifestyle and to find recipes that work for all your needs, but just keep at it and you'll get there.
