Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

I on the other hand am very sensitive to certain foods and have to stay away from them whereas my mom can eat anything she wants, but watches her portions.
The whole idea is to keep your blood sugar low........but it is ok to have a treat now and then.
I gave everything else up so I treat myself to one cup of coffee with real cream and real sugar every morning and my blood sugar is just fine......my A1C's reflect that I am doing good :)
I am pretty strict the rest of the day.
Last Saturday I went to a wedding and had a very small piece of wedding cake.....of course, I worked it into my carb count for the day and everything was dandy :)
Sweets are not usually my weakness.......it's pasta and pizza and breads that do me in and what I miss the most.
I have learned to make substitutes which is working out well.
