Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...

I have been a member of daily strength for a long time. However I have been away for a long time and I haven't posted in a while, but now I'm back. I've had so much going on in my life! I'm so overwhelmed! I am in a world of trouble right now with my health and I need help. Confession I am completely addicted to sugar. I used to be addicted to smoking cigarettes but I quit smoking and I have been smoke free for 9 years now but believe me when I say as hard as it was to kick that habit. Breaking my addiction to sugar is much harder! I am Diabetic I have been Diabetic since I was 22 years old. I am 44 years old now. I will be 45 in May. My A1C is so high right now just had it checked on February 15th. And it went down 7 points from what it was in October of 2022. My current A1C is 9.1 which is extremely high!I know I have to change my diet and eat healthier and cut out alot of the sugar out of my diet. My medicine that I am taking for the Diabetes is working well and I am seeing better readings on my glucose meter when I check my blood sugar. I know I have a long way to go but I seem to be moving in the right direction. My blood sugar was 95 this morning when I checked it before I had breakfast.

Kinda tired of doing life alone. All my friends and cousins seem to have more pressing priorities, so I do solo road trips. I have connected with a few new friends but they are not into road adventures like me (maybe I will research travel groups). Today was MSU Hidden Garden in Tipton MI about 1 hr 15 min from Lansing MI. Sometimes being a family of one is fine.... but I miss my mommy, husband...

(Trigger warning coming)
My Dad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, cut out all sugar, only ate a little fruit, checked his blood sugar levels all day long. Then 4 years into his diagnosis, he suddenly had a stroke. Not saying it was definitely from the diabetes-2, but he had no other risk factors for a stroke. He died 3 weeks later from the stroke. Our family was in complete shock. I am only saying this to you because as hard as it is, you need to get a handle on this, and soon. You can do it! You will be okay, but please please take it seriously and do what you have to do to get your diet back on track. Once you stop the sugary snacks, you don't crave them anymore. You can do this, diabetes is not something to mess around with.
