Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
I am going to a Bariatric Dr. and I really like the way they say to check carbs.
Count carbs, say you are having a sandwich (2) slices of bread depending on the type of bread each slice could be around 36 each so that is 72 carbs just for the bread. We\'ll stop there, take your total carb = 72 divide by 4 = 18 you can consider this teaspoons of sugar. So instead of eating two slices of bread you could have just 18 teaspoons of sugar NO we would not!
When I think about it this way I really think twice before scarfing the carbs.
Hope this helps, Good Luck
