Diabetes Type 2 Support Group
Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not make efficient use of it. Insulin is a hormone needed to convert food into glucose, a sugar that the body uses for energy. Without enough insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood, and can cause serious health problems such as heart disease and strokes and organ damage...
Yes you can eat fruits, veggies, tho carrots have a high natural sugar in them, corn can cause a problem with some also.
Test when you get up, then two hours after a meal, and at night. If you only test 3 times a day as most of us, then do the morning/night and rotate the 3rd each day, say after breakfast one day, lunch the next, then dinner, you can even test right before a meal also
If sweets are a problem with you, then don't eat them if you can't eat 1/2portion. Count your carbs to see how you are doing, you don't have to do this constantly, but it helps to keep you on track if you do monitor a week out of a month. I use sparkle and lose it sites to help. With sparkle you can also track things like calcium, etc
Yes it is easy to get off track, we all have done so, but realize you need to do this for your health and in time it will become natural to do this things...come talk to us when you want to grab those donuts, etc and have you seen a dietician? they can help you also.
Not sure I can buy Dreamfield here in Canada, but I'll have a look. What would be a good carb count to stay within?
I know its the season, but I think I need to forget that and just get things back in control. I have not seen a dietician for years.
I keep a can of nuts around for if he is hungry and no carbs. meat, too...we don't worry too much on fats because we don't fry, and don't eat lots of fatty meats, except he eats beacon often...for breakfast.
